Summertime is here in Southwest Florida! That means the Tarpon are visiting on their annual migration, the big Snook are on the beaches and the Snapper are starting to show up in numbers!

Summer is always an interesting time on Sanibel & Captiva. This year was quite a bit different with the Covid pandemic that has shut down much of the world. I’m happy to report that the fish seem to be unaffected, and have been out chewing up everything in sight!

For much of April and May, we were locked down and many of our “vacationers” were told to stay home to ride out the pandemic. Now that we are “re-opening” it’s good to be back to a full schedule and seeing long time customers and friends.

Summer is off to a good start and the water quality this year has been exceptional! Those tarpon are swinging through and making memories for millions of visitors during their visit. Redfish have been plentiful on the flats and oyster bars and the big Snook are once again on the beaches for their annual spawn. If nothing else, fishing has been great!

I made some upgrades to the boat, again! As many of you know I purchased a new 25ft Southern Cross (made by Carolina Yachts) about 10 months ago. And I’ve been tweaking it more and more every month to make trips more productive, and enjoyable for all!

Recently, I had a new tower with an upper station built and installed by the guys over at Action Welding in Cape Coral. Towers are a great addition to any boat here in Southwest Florida. Not only do they free up space on the boat, but they also make it easier to spot fish due to the height advantage. It also provides some shade and storage when you add a T-top as we did. I love it and think you will too!

Also, I worked with the guys over at Land, Sea & Air in Fort Myers to build and install a quality, collapsible Bimini top to provide some much desired shade on those smoking hot summer days. The Bimini will be a big plus when were done fishing and in need of a reprieve from the sun or in the event of a passing summertime shower!

All in all, the boat is shaping up to be an amazing upgrade and one that better suits you – my customers!!!

I hope you and your family all stayed healthy over the past few months, and I hope to see you all very soon!

Wash your hands people!

Tight Lines!
